The Institute “Margherita Hack” (Formerly ‘IIS Baronissi’) is a public school with 590 students aged 14-18 and with 104 staff members. It is located in Baronissi, area that a broad range of people in terms of socio-economic status. It operates in an environment which is diversified, with a fewer number of economically disadvantaged families and immigrant students and a good number of professionals owing to the proximity to the University of Salerno.
The main goals are to train competent students as nowadays society claims and to include all the students within school and life success. The educational curriculum lasts five years and there are two main academic programs: the Scientific high school (Natural Sciences, Maths & Physics, Italian, English, Latin, History and Philosophy); and the VET (Informatics, Industrial Technical Institute Mechanical & Mechatronic, Electronics, Chemistry).
The school is already active in Erasmus+ KA1 projects for the carrying out of periods of traineeship and training abroad for its recent graduates and wishes to implement KA2 projects too in order to further develop its internationalization strategy, share experiences with other schools and colleagues from Europe, develop the use of digital and ICT tools and innovative teaching methodologies, improve language learning for both staff and learners. Facilitating and implementing ICT and digital tools is considered a key-tool to improve competences, increase motivation in learning, and prepare them for the world of work. The Institute wants to share good practices with schools from other European Countries and start a fruitful confrontation with peers in order to improve the quality of its training provision.
Our school strives to achieve the best for our students and we continuously engage in projects which aim to enhance our technology supported teaching as well as promotion of STE(A)M-based education. We have completed several UE funded projects within PON framework in the field of social inclusion, innovation, work-based learning, among others. Our staff uses many ICT tools to support teaching and learning and we are well placed to embark on a project which will enrich our curriculum and improve staff and learners’ performance and engagement.

Vocational high school in energy and electrical engineering
📍Galabovo – Bulgaria
Vocational High School of Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering, Galabovo, was created in 1957.
During the 2017/2018 academic year, 412 students were trained in the following specialties: “Thermal Power Engineering”, “Electrical Equipment Production”, and “Technology of Machine Building”. The main subjects of vocational training for these specialties are: electrical engineering and electronics; technical mechanic; repair of energy aggregates; technical drawing; electrical measurements; machine elements and electrical machines. The pedagogical staff of the high school is represented by 33 teachers with many years of experience.
The duration of the training is four years and upon completion the students receive a diploma for secondary education and a certificate of professional qualification in the specialty. We would like to explore and promote an increasing awareness of citizenship and human rights in order to prepare our students for their participation in the democratic life of their countries. We also want to boost the European dimension in our school-community and give our students various opportunities of getting in touch with students from other countries and cultures.
The school has experience in the realisation of national and European projects:
- 2017/2018 – Project “Practice for better professional prospects of young specialists in electrical engineering and energetics” EL-VISION, № 2017-1-BG01-KA102-035897, Erasmus +, KA 20 students passed 2-week professional practice in electrical engineering and power engineering in Barcelos, Portugal.
- 2016 – Project “European experience for the acquirement of skills in the field of electrical engineering and power engineering in a foreign language environment”, №2016-1-BG01-KA102-023025, implemented under Erasmus +, KA 1. In October 2016, 18 pupils from the school were sent to 16-day professional practice in 9 companies operating in the field of power engineering and electrical engineering on the territory of Bologna, Italy.

Escola Secundária/3 de Barcelinhos
📍Barcelos – Portugal
Barcelinhos Secondary School is located at Rua de Areal de Baixo, in S. Brás Square, in Barcelinhos – Barcelos. It is close to the city centre and belongs to the city, since Barcelinhos is one of the three parishes that constitute the city of Barcelos. Its construction was completed in 1986 and entered into operation in the academic year 1986/87. It was created by Ordinance No. 790/86, which provided for its entry into operation on October 1 of that year (1986). It serves mainly the population of the left bank of the river Cávado.
It is a Secondary School, with 28 classrooms, with canteen service, bar, etc. This number includes two computer rooms equipped with computers connected in network, with access to the internet. There is also a study room with some didactic resources and with computers also with internet access. In terms of pedagogical sciences, the school has laboratories for classes in Physics, Chemistry and Biology, but they are not suitable for laboratory activities and require adaptation and improvement. There is also a library, with a resource centre, where students have large consultation space, audiovisual facilities and some computers with Internet access. At the cultural and recreational level, it has a room and activities room, equipped with stage and video projector, where various cultural activities can be hosted, such as movie projections, etc. When it comes to sports, the school has an athletic hall, in addition to physical education and sport classes, it is open to the community, especially for group activities and sports associations that mainly work at night and on weekends.
It attends students from the seventh to the twelfth year of schooling, corresponding to the third cycle of Basic Education and Secondary Education. During secondary education, courses are held for future studies, covering the main areas of training; professional courses that correspond to the needs of the socioeconomic environment where the school is inserted.
The school is doing its best to meet the needs of students, taking into account their options and preferences. The school has experience in Erasmus + projects. The realisation of the project will have a beneficial impact on our school including in a long-term perspective. It will help us with the achievement of our main objective – to provide high quality education in compliance with the needs of the students in order to prepare them for the real life.
